I’ve discovered over the years that Loughborough, Leicester and in fact Leicestershire on the whole, is quite the hub for creativity; art especially. I’ve been very lucky to meet so many painters, illustrators, sculptors, potters and more over the years, and have found them all to be fascinating subjects for both photography and video. Previous blogs of mine have mentioned my love of photographing artists in their studios – to witness and document their work processes. It also helps that what they produce tends to be very beautiful!
Because of this, I was delighted to hear that not only were my neighbours known to my parents, but that they are also very talented ceramicists/potters/painters. Very handy for a Loughborough based photographer to have interesting subjects literally next door!
Salsbury Ceramics are Louise and David Salsbury, a lovely couple who are very active within the local arts and crafts communities. They are also often involved with shows and fairs that are held all over the country, this weekend’s being the British Craft Trade Fair in Harrogate. Salsbury Ceramics are showcasing their work, and approached me to shoot some content for their stand.
The job was short but sweet – an hour of photography of David busy at work, and then another hour or so of editing. The whole project was turned around in just one morning, and the resulting shots have been printed and will be on show tomorrow!
So if you’re needing a photographer for either a large project or a small one, bear me in mind. And if you’re pressed for time and need it turning around quickly, get in touch with the details and I’ll see what I can do for you. Here’s a link to my facebook page too.
If you’re at the BCTF tomorrow, be sure to keep and eye out for Salsbury Ceramics! Here’s a slideshow of Tuesday’s efforts:
