Recent Roundup Blog 2
I left off the last Recent Roundup Blog post mentioning how lucky I feel to have such interesting subjects to film and photograph in the Loughborough, Leicester and Nottingham area, and so I shall continue from there!
Ice hockey and roller derby are pretty awesome physical sports that look rather good on video. Knowing people who do both of these somewhat bruising pastimes, this month I went along to a game and a practice session respectively to suss out the sports with a view to going back and doing more shooting soon. I think the shooting potential in both areas is great. I admit that the light will be challenging in both cases, but then I look forward to a good challenge!
If you’re interested in watching some ice hockey, the Nottingham University Mavericks Ice Hockey Club (Mavericks Facebook page) have a game at the ice centre in Notts this coming Easter Sunday. Similarly, the badass ladies of Leicestershire Dolly Rockit Rollers (Dolly Rockit Rollers’ Facebook page) have a British Championship game on April 2nd. I’m gutted I’ll miss the latter, but I will be up in the Lake District shooting a wedding!
Earlier this year I met up with Alex Lees, a fellow videographer/Creative Director of Tale Film and Video Production with a view to us doing some collaborative work together. As a result of our meeting, I’ve been doing some second camera work with him for events he’s been shooting at Athena in Leicester. Athena are looking to rebrand their website and get some fresh video content for the relaunch in November this year, and Alex has been tasked with this pretty cool opportunity. I helped out with a charity fashion show hosted by Loros, and a boxing event that was on last weekend. Keep an eye out for Alex’s work! His website is currently in development, but you can find him on instagram – @tale_design1. (Alex’s insta)
Now onto The Crown Inn.
I’ve had recurring work with Lesley, Mike and the team over in Old Dalby, and have really enjoyed seeing the place develop since it opened in August last year. From a promo video to food and venue shots, the work has been varied and fun, and the most recent shoots have been no exception. I did the majority of the photography for The Crown Inn website (click here), and returned this month to shoot the final few rooms that are now complete, and also the new spring menu. The pub is lovely, and I massively recommend you head over to Old Dalby to enjoy it as the weather improves! I’ll be doing another blog post about the food shoot when the photos/website is ready, so do check back soon.
While you’re waiting, though, check out the rest of my website for my portfolio, and information on what I could do for you/your business!
That’s all for now. I’ll do my best to start updating slightly more regularly….
