Rob & Ais
Last Friday was spent working hard on a fun and informal portrait and headshot photography session with one of my old and best college mates, Rob Dukes and his ace partner in crime, Ais De Ath. Both Rob and Ais are actors, writers, producers (a talented pair), and live and work in London; Rob was back visiting his parents and so I jumped at the opportunity to shoot for them.
It was a great chance to spend time with friends and also have a play with dramatic lighting, something actors tend not to use for standard headshots. The results are awesome and attest to how bloody photogenic they both are, and how well they know their angles – certainly handy for a photographer who is wanting to get as much experience as possible! I find it’s important to learn from and collaborate with others, particularly (for me) with those who’ve spent a lot of time in front of the camera. It was also a total bonus that we’re all as delighted with the photos as each other!
The three of us are planning a slightly less dramatic shoot for their next visit, this time outdoors. It’ll probably be something along the lines of a shoot I did just yesterday with musician Mark Elliott, whose brief was “urban and edgy”. Photos of my session with Mark to follow in another blog post, but for now, enjoy the faces of Rob Dukes and Ais De Ath!
